Clinical trials research supported by the pharmaceutical industry is crucial for making many of the  advances in healthcare associated with new and existing medicines. The CTC and its academic partners undertake investigator-initiated trials with a number of pharmaceutical companies in key clinical trial areas, where pharmaceutical companies provide funding support and/or investigational product.

This investigator-initiated research funded by industry is of clinical and public health importance, where CTC/academic study investigators remain responsible for how the research is conducted, analysed and reported on. Each Trial Management Committee (TMC), comprised of researchers and clinicians, is responsible for key decisions that affect a trial. Publications featuring trial results are drafted and published by leading researchers on the trial. Pharmaceutical companies are given the opportunity to provide input, but ownership of publication content rests with trial researchers.
